Why Does My Back Always Hurt?

Why Does My Back Always Hurt?

This content was medically reviewed by Baher S. Yanni, MD, on March 7th, 2016.

Many back injuries happen over time and are a result of bad habits. At the Spine INA, we have relieved back pain for many people, and over the years, we have learned certain habits that can harm your back.

In our last blog, we shared three ways you may be hurting your back right now, including avoiding the gym, carrying a heavy purse, and doing too many crunches. Today, we have a few more insights for you!

Your commute is long

Remaining seated for long periods of time can tense your muscles up, resulting in rounded shoulders and and slumped posture. Both of these positions will end up giving you back pain. We recommend that you ensure you’re sitting at a 90 degree angle. Err on the side of being closer to the wheel to prevent stretching out and compromising your back.

You don’t eat well

This won’t come as a surprise, but a good diet helps your back along with the rest of your body. Research has proven that people with back pain are likely to have circulatory issues like clogged arteries. They are often eating inflammatory foods that irritate their bodies. Make sure you avoid caffeine and processed food. You don’t have to revamp your entire diet; start small and work from there.

Whether your back pain is the result of a bad habit or an accident and beyond, we have the expertise to bring you relief. From spinal stenosis and beyond, we are here to help you. Learn more about us today!
