If you have arthritis, you have inflamed joints. As if that isn’t difficult enough, the food you eat can make it better or worse. At the Spine INA, we are passionate about understanding back pain and helping each and everyone one of our patients live the happy lives they were meant to live. That is why we are going to take the next few blogs to share foods that can be great allies for you when your joints are hurting.
Garlic
Garlic contains a compound that can limit the enzymes that damage your cartilage. They are part of the allium family, which includes leeks and onions. All of these plants contain diallyl disulfide, the compound that can help relieve arthritis and other diseases. You can easily find supplements at the store to strengthen the garlic you get from your food.
Vitamin C
There are antioxidants in vitamin C. Research has found that they can slow the progress of arthritis. You can consume vitamin C naturally by eating kiwi, oranges, strawberries, cantaloupe, and pineapple. We also recommend you get a vitamin supplement from the store. Just be sure that the supplements are below 65 milligrams – too much vitamin C can increase the possibility of kidney stones.
Keeping yourself healthy involves putting healthy stuff into your body. At the Spine INA, we know what it takes. Contact us to learn more about our services, including epidural steroid injection!
