Did you know that weight training is better for your back than cardio? At the Spine INA, we have dedicated ourselves to providing solutions to back pain, because we understand how badly back pain can affect daily life. As with most treatments, ours work better when our patients have healthy habits. We have been looking at different weight training exercises that can benefit your back. Because your back is so integral to almost every part of your body, a wide range of exercises can help it out. This is good news, because it means that if one type of exercise doesn’t work for you, another one can deliver benefits instead.

Leg Curl

This exercise strengthens your hamstrings, and when you do it with the right form, your lower back will get benefits as well. Make sure your breathe and start out with light weight. You don’t want to put too much strain on your knees.

Abdominal Crunch

In our last blog, we looked at doing crunches on an exercise ball in order to strengthen your legs and entire core. Normal crunches are a good addition, because they intensely strengthen your abs. that being said, you need to make sure you work your back as well. If you don’t, the strength imbalance will make your back hurt more. We recommend the prone Superman or any exercise that specifically works your back.

We offer world-class back treatments, including spinal stenosis treatment. Contact us to learn more about how we can bring you relief today!
